5G in India – Soon we are going to see.
India is the vast market for the telecom and electronics industry. We all are watching the unboxing of 5G phones every day on YouTube, but do we actually know when we are going to use 5G? Yes, we are going to use 5G within few months. Earlier this year, Reliance Jio announced a commercial 5G launch by the second half of 2021. But we hadn’t seen any 5G testing from Jio. Whereas, Bharti Airtel has done commercial 5G testing on its current 4G spectrum, by using dynamic spectrum refarming. In this Airtel achieved speeds above 300Mbps, which is definitely great.
OpenSignal, the company which is known for giving telecom reports. We have checked the map available on the OpenSignal app for network coverage. We found the commercial 5G towers and networks of Airtel, Jio around many locations in India. Even you can try finding these high-speed internet areas on the maps. You can also use Ookla maps for finding 5G towers or coverage.
So, this makes us definitely feel that we are soon going to see 5G in a few cites/states like New Delhi, Mumbai, Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Punjab, Gujrat, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. Now, as per the recent reports collected from the internet, there may be a 5G launch race between Airtel and Jio. As Vi (Vodafone Idea) is still working to improve 4G and shutting down 3G services throughout India.
